Interdisciplinary Learning Outcome

With this teaching project we want students to get Basic knowledge on African- culture, economy, politics, literature etc. through Project Planning, implementation and final evaluation

  • Culture: Society, Family & Private Life, Philosophy, Religion, Language & Literature etc.,
  • Institutions: Politics and Governance, Democracy, Human Rights, Law etc.,
  • Economic order: Economics, Business, Technology etc.,
  • Natural Resources: Land, Water, Energy etc.

  • Sessions on Wednesdays, 2.15-5.30 pm
  • First session: 23.10.2024, 2.15 pm, Building 2, Room 21/22 (E-Level)
  • Turning in of final written report: 08.01.2025

1st. Theory input seminar on Africa

Various topics on Africa – Theory & Practice

Africa vs Europe & Germany

Developing Idea & Planning Projects

2nd. Group TASKS

Students work on Group Tasks–and Send -via E-Mail or upload in the CAMP UAS - small report to the Instructor who presented the seminar and gave the Group TASK

3rd. Oral Exam Presentation– (on AFRICA) – Questions to be answered and presented using PPT, Charts etc.

Project work and presentation

Students broaden their specialized line of thinking (theories and methods) through insights into professional knowledge and paradigms of other disciplines.

The students are capable of

  • interdisciplinary thinking, and recognizing the different aspects of a cross-sectional task, weighing these aspects and reflecting on them holistically;
  • comprehending the relations within their future professional fields with regard to different disciplines as well as societal aspects;
  • describing these relations professionally as well as representing them argumentatively in debate;
  • reflecting the impacts and effects of their professional and societal actions and drawing conclusions from these for their own conduct;
  • developing an understanding for how other disciplines think through interdisciplinary tasks, and acting cooperatively with regard to other cultures and value systems;

The module deals with ideas of the African image and facts. In general Students broaden their specialized line of thinking (theories and methods) through insights into professional knowledge and paradigms of other disciplines.

In this Course Students:

  • Acquire intercultural skills
  • Develop concrete knowledge about Africa - What do Africans ‘understand’ about Africa? - What do non-Africans in 'the West' understand as 'Africa'? -What do Africans in 'the West' understand as 'Africa'? -What distinguishes Africa and African Societies from others?
  • Learn to work in multidisciplinary teams (different subject areas)
  • Contact African communities and learn cultures first hand
  • Improve English Language
  • Learn from experience & mistakes

Both Texts used as references and lectures are in German and English. Information collected and Interviews made can be in any Language but have to be translated into German or English.
