  • At the university, many people at the departments and service facilities are constantly improving our offers. During this process, several questions regularly come up: In which area is the need for improvements particularly high? Where are things already going well? How large is the actual target group for a new offer?
  • Often, these questions cannot be answered with certainty; in many cases, only assumptions are possible. We hope that this survey will provide us with concrete information so that we can close important information gaps.
  • Universities are also legally obliged to evaluate study offers and services. Section 12 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG) regulates the University's quality assurance and reporting tasks. Paragraph 1 stipulates that the universities shall regularly evaluate the fulfilment of their tasks: "The universities shall regularly evaluate the fulfilment of their tasks, in particular with respect to teaching, research, internationalization and intercultural integration, knowledge and technology transfer, further education and administration, taking into account developments in science, art, society and the professional world".

The questions were developed and selected by the Department of Quality Management - Development - Planning. Particular attention was given to the following:

  • Some questions were taken from various scientific surveys and major university research studies. This ensures that we ask relevant and proven questions and that we can also compare ourselves with a nationwide average for Universities of Applied Sciences in some areas. The surveys, which we used for this purpose, include the National Education Panel, the Social Survey, the City ofConstance Student Survey and the Study Quality Monitor.
  • Other questions were taken from other questionnaires that have been used at the university for many years, e.g. the Final Survey or the Graduate Survey. For the purpose of the current survey, all questions have been re-examined.
  • The concerns of various departments (e.g. Library, International Office, CampusSport, Anti-Discrimination Council) have been taken into account. A pre-test was carried out with 330 students taking part. Hereby, we could find out which questions/answer possibilities work well and which are not suitable. In addition, the students themselves indicated which questions they missed at the end of the questionnaire. We considered many of these suggestions!
