At least since the Corona crisis, the social importance of care and the simultaneous lack of nursing professionals have become public awareness. Especially at the beginning of the pandemic, recognition and appreciation for nurses became visible through politics and reporting. This social appreciation is fed by communication with and about nursing professionals as well as the self-portrayal of nursing staff. A negative external and internal representation of the job profile harbors the risk that fewer and fewer people will decide on the job or give it up early.
Communication of Caregivers
In her doctorate, Katja Kraus would like to examine how nurses talk about their work both inside and outside their professional field. In doing so, she takes a look at how this communication develops, how it works and how it can be changed. She focuses in particular on the linguistic differences that nurses make when talking to colleagues, patients or friends and acquaintances.
Professionalization of the Job Profile
The aim of her dissertation is to develop practical recommendations for action and training courses for nursing staff and thus contribute to the professionalization of the profession.
Practice Partner
„We are pleased to be a pilot partner in this innovative cooperation because it wonderfully combines practice and theory as well as research according to our motto 'Enable Opportunities'. This underlines once again how important the nursing staff is at varisano. We wish our colleague every success in her doctorate and look forward to the results.“
Stefan Schad, Managing director of the varisano clinics in Frankfurt-Main-Taunus
