Do you have questions about the collaborative doctorate?

Below you will find answers* to frequently asked questions. If you have any further questions, we will be happy to advise you personally.

In order to be able to take up a HAW professorship as a young scientist, the following requirements must be met:

  • Doctorate
  • At least 5 years of work experience (three of them outside of the university)
  • First teaching experience

With the new qualification and collaborative programs, qualified specialists are prepared for a career at a university of applied sciences.

There are three types of qualification and collaborative programs at the Frankfurt UAS:

  • Collaborative doctoral program
  • Collaborative postdoc program
  • Cooperative professorships

Graduates who are aiming for a doctorate can write their doctoral thesis at our university and in cooperation with a practice partner at 50 percent each. In addition, 2 semesterhours teaching activities are scheduled.

The target group for this program already has a scientific university degree, but would like to do an application-oriented doctorate or stay rooted in practice. Collaborative doctoral positions are intended both for Master's graduates and for experienced practitioners who want to develop further.

The collaborative docotral program takes 3 years.

The payment is up to pay group 13 TV-Hessen.

*Please note that this information refers only to the salary (50%), which is paid by the university.

Potential practice partners should meet the following criteria:

  • Activity in the field of the research topic
  • Waiver of 50 percent of work performance in the company for at least three years to enable employees to research current topics.

A corresponding budget is provided and can be requested from the project sponsor by the practice partner company.

The respective rights and obligations are laid down in the cooperation agreement. These include, among other things:

  • Waiver of 50 percent of the employee’s work performance
  • Financing practical parts (50 percent)
  • Responsibility for the practical phases
  • Support in achieving the research goal

Unfortunately, this is not possible within the framework of PROFfm. Due to the fact that the program is initially limited to 2027, no change can currently be offered.

The documents to be submitted include:

  • CV
  • Project Profile
  • Motivation letter
  • Reference letters
  • Information on your previous research and teaching activities (if available)
  • Professorial confirmation of supervision
  • Confirmation of a practice partner (if available)

* All information is provided without warranty.
