Service Learning

Service Learning is a teaching-learning format that contributes to assuming responsibility for civil society. Service learning is also called “learning through commitment” and it links service to the general public of the common good (service) with knowledge processes (learning) for students, teachers and cooperation partners from the public or non-profit sector. Within the framework of courses, it addresses specific questions and challenges from practice, which are scientifically addressed jointly with the help of subject-specific or interdisciplinary methods.

For example, service learning projects have successfully implemented a warehouse management system for a charity or improved work processes in a production facility for a facility where people with disabilities work. Other projects dealt with mobility concepts for decentralized living places of refugees or the programming of an app that matches needs with the know-how of helpers. Our portfolio also includes barrier-free conversion of public places, conducting surveys and much more.
