Introduction

Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Frankfurt UAS), founded as Fachhochschule Frankfurt am Main in 1971, is a leading Institution of Higher Education that systematically combines scientific approaches with practical application. Within its four faculties – Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geomatics; Computer Science and Engineering; Business and Law; Social Work and Health – it offers a wide range of study courses at undergraduate and graduate level and is involved in a steadily growing number of important research projects. Within Faculty 1: Architecture. Civil Engineering. Geomatics, research is bundled in the Frankfurt Research Institute for Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geomatics (FFin), where more than 30 scientists research in the fields of urban development and land management, renewable energies and energy efficiency, geo-information, (electro)mobility, and other topics.

 

Goals

The goals of Rapid Planning – Sustainable Infrastructure, Environmental and Resource Management for Highly Dynamic Metropolises, are to be achieved within a timeframe of five years (2014-2019) by means of a logical framework featuring 15 work packages including coordination. The tasks performed by Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Frankfurt UAS) will be closely coordinated with those of the other 11 project partners.

Frankfurt UAS is the responsible local project partner (“Focal Point”) for the integration and relation with the German reference city Frankfurt am Main. Frankfurt UAS is extensively involved in the integration of the RP methodology into spatial and urban planning procedures in the case cities, in the analyses of the different municipal administrative and planning structures, and is the leader of “Capacity building/training units” work package, including the organization of capacity building workshop for the international partners in Germany. Additionally, it has its share in the dissemination and valorization of the results.
