Frankfurt am Main Doctoral Node

The research cooperation between the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (Faculty 2, Fachbereich 2: Informatik und Ingenieurwissenschaften) at Frankfurt University and Plymouth University has been established in 2015.

Ph.D. candidate supervision will be provided by Frankfurt (1st and 2nd supervisor) and Plymouth (3rd supervisor). The Ph.D. degree will be granted by the Plymouth University. Ph.D. students regularly exchange research results at Ph.D. seminars in Frankfurt as well as the annual joint SEIN (Collaborative Research Symposium on Security, E-learning, Internet and Networking). The Ph.D. program undergoes strict quality assurance. Tuition fees apply.

Plymouth University is one of the top three modern universities in the UK, having over 32,000 students and 3,000 staff members. The Frankfurt Node

The newly established Frankfurt Node with node director Prof. Dr. Bogdan Ghita is part of the CSCAN network of the Centre for Security, Communications and Network Research at the Plymouth University.

Partner on the Frankfurt Node side is the Centre of Competence for Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (CCNDS) covering the following research groups:

  • Network Security, Information Security and Privacy
  • Operating Systems and Computer Networks
  • Mobile Computing
  • Telecommunications Networks
  • Wireless and Smart Sensor Networks
  • Cluster, Grid and Cloud-Computing
  • Secure hybrid networks for mobile communication

The CSCAN Network

The Centre for Security, Communications and Network Research at the Plymouth University, is an established research group, comprising staff from the School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics at Plymouth University.

The CSCAN Network currently comprises four network nodes.

Frankfurt Doctoral Node is part of the CSCAN Network of the Centre for Security, Communications and Network Research with Plymouth University (UK)  

The CEDAR-Graduiertenschule (Centre for Doctoral Applied Research) of the Frankfurt University regularly schedules PhD seminars for PhD students and professors of the Center of Competence for networks and distributed systems (CECNDS)
