  • Presentation: The Frankfurt Forum for Interdisciplinary Age Research (FFIA) (German only), in cooperation with GRADE Center Aging, is organizing a winter school for young scientists on the topic of "Ethics and Technology in Age Research” that will take place on February 27 and 28, 2020 at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. Prof. Dr. Wendt will lecture on question of product compliance in the use of robotics and assistive systems as well as on the ethics guidelines for trustworthy AI.

  • Presentation: On November 7 and 8, 2019, the International Association of Legal Protection Insurance "Rencontres Internationales des Assureurs Défense" (RIAD) is organizing the Internationalen RIAD Congress 2019 on the topic "Collective Redress" in Berlin. Dr. Wendt will lecture on the topic "Collective Redress / Class Action and Free Choice of Lawyers - A contradiction?" You can download the flyer for the RIAD Congress 2019 here. 

  • Interview: The online magazine Springer Professional (German only) interviewed Prof. Dr. Wendt on the effects of the Brexit on the finance market. You can see the complete interview here (German only).

  • Lectures on private insurance law: In cooperation with the Institute for the Insurance Industry (German only) of the TH Cologne and the Berufbildungswerk der Deutschen Versicherungswirtschaft e.V. (BWV), the Deutsche Versicherungsakademie (DVA) currently implements the "Insurance Management" program (Bachelor of Arts - B.A.). In this program, Dr. Wendt has been holding lectures on new insurance sales law, insurance regulatory law, and the European insurance contract law since January 2019.

  • Presentation: On  September 17, 2019, the RHEINLAND-PITCH LEGALTECH SPECIAL (German only) took place in Cologne. Prof. Dr. Wendt hat held the opening lecture with the title "LegalTech - Automatisch Recht bekommen?" and was a member of the jury.   • Presentation: On September 6, 2019, the Darmstädter Juristische Vereinigung (DJV) held the 2nd Darmstädter Juristentag (German only) on the topic "The Aging Society and the Law" in the historical clock tower of the Technical University Darmstadt.  Together with Prof. Dr. Ruppert,  Prof. Dr. Wendt presented a lecture on the topic "Future Aging - Legal Challenges in the Use of Assistive Systems and Robotics."   • Workshop: On April 3, 2019, the research center Future Aging (German only) of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences discussed aging in the future at a kick-off event with representatives of practice. Together with Prof. Dr. Ruppert, Prof. Dr. Wendt debated ethical and legal aspects in the use of assistive systems and robotics with the participants. Dr. Wendt is a member of the Future Aging research center and in this connection studies in particular questions of product compliance.

  • Presentation: On November 7, 2018, the Versicherungs Forum der Deutschen Versicherungsakademie (DVA) organized a conference on "News for Legal Protection Insurance."  Prof. Dr. Wendt held a presentation titled "Collective Legal Protection in Europe."

  • Study: Together with the IHK Frankfurt am Main (German only)  the Institute for Contract Design and Conflict Resolution (IVK) of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences studied how businesses handle and resolve conflicts. For this purpose, the IVK designed an online survey together with research partners. This research project is supposed to develop practice-oriented solutions for conflict management and out-of-court dispute resolution on a scientific basis. The first experiences with consumer dispute resolution centers were taken into account. The results were presented on October 24, 2018 during a symposium.

  • Guest lecture: On May 23, 2018 (8:30 in Room 4-414), Mr. Sebastian Schüßler (German only) held   a guest lecture on the topic "Legal Tech - Insights into the Digitalization in the Area of Law." Mr. Schüßler works as an attorney and digitalization manager for Legal Technology in the Hamburg subsidiary of Rödl & Partner. He studies innovative (Legal Tech) business models and their development. In addition, as an attorney Mr. Schüßler guides clients in the fields of disruptive technology applications and digital innovation.

  • Presentation: On April 26, 2018, the Federal Association of German Business Lawyers held the annual congress "Syndikus Summit 2018." Prof. Dr. Wendt gave a lecture there on the topic of "The Legal Department as Conflict Solver - Overview: Variants of In-court, Out-of-court, and Company-internal Conflict Resolution."   • Presentation: On April 20, 2018, the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences hosted the 5th symposium "Science and practice in exchange on current challenges."  Prof. Dr. Wendt gave a speech on titled "Legal Tech - Get Your Rights Automatically?"

  • Presentation: On November 13 and 20, 2017, the Deutsche Versicherungsakademie (DVA), in cooperation with the GDV, held two conferences in Munich and in Cologne with the title "Insurance Brokerage Today." At the events, Prof. Dr. Wendt presented a lecture titled "Consulting Duties Pursuant to IDD Implementation Act and Delegated Acts of Law."

  • Presentation: On November 9 and 16, 2017, the BLD law firm organized a symposium on current legal issues related to private insurance law in Munich and in Cologne. There, Prof. Dr. Wendt lectured on the topic "Independence of Trustees in Private Health Insurance."

  • Presentation: On September 28, 2017, the Insurance Forum of the Deutsche Versicherungsakademie (DVA) organized the conference "The Latest News in Legal Protection Insurance" in Cologne.  Prof. Dr. Wendt presented a lecture there titled "Legal Tech and Legal Robots."

  • Presentation: On September 12, 2017, the Insurance Forum of the Deutsche Versicherungsakademie (DVA) organized a conference on the EU Ordinance regulating basic information sheets for packaged investment products for small investors and insurance investment products (so-called PRIIP Ordinance) in Cologne.  Prof. Dr. Wendt presented a lecture there on liability and sanctions pursuant to the PRIIP Ordinance. The PRIIP Ordinance is also the subject of a current comprehensive research project, whose results will be presented in a commentary to be published in the Nomos-Verlag (on conjunction with Helbing & Lichtenhahn and Manz Verlag Vienna).

  • Presentation: At the conference of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Versicherungen im Netzwerk Compliance on June 21, 2017 in Frankfurt, Prof. Dr. Wendt presented a lecture on the PRIIP Ordinance.

  • Study: In order to achieve the global climate goals, current estimates require an investment of at least €400 billion into climate protection measures. A study commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Environment, Environmental Protection, Construction, and Reactor Safety (BMUB) investigated what obstacles stand in the way of climate protection investments from the private sector and how these obstacles can be overcome. Prof. Dr. Wendt was a member of the research group.

  • Book review:  Prof. Dr. Staudinger reviewed the 5th edition of the European Business Law textbook authored by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Kilian and Prof. Dr. Wendt.  The review appeared in the Zeitschrift für das Juristische Studium (ZJS).

  • Graduate price: Ms. Zentgraf was awarded the Graduate Prize of the Development Association of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences for her thesis and for her great commitment at the University. She received the prize partially in recognition for her long-term engagement in mentoring and university politics and for her Bachelor thesis titled "Consumer Dispute Resolution Law and Code of Civil Procedure as a Basis for Conflict Resolution: An analysis of the approaches." Prof. Dr. Wendt and Prof. Dr. Anders-Rudes were advisors for the thesis.

  • Presentation: On Thursday, November 24, 2016, the Insurance Forum of the Deutsche Versicherungsakademie (DVA) organized a conference on the new EU Ordinance on basic information sheets for packaged investment products for small investors and insurance investment products (so-called PRIIP Ordinance).  Prof. Dr. Wendt gave a presentation at the conference.

  • Presentation: On Thursday, November 10, 2016, the Insurance Forum of the Deutsche Versicherungsakademie (DVA) organized a conference on "The Latest News in Legal Protection Insurance."  Prof. Dr. Wendt presented a lecture there titled "Mediation 2.0."

  • Institute for Contract Design and Conflict Resolution (IVK): Professors of Faculty 3: Business and Law of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences founded the Institute for Contract Design and Conflict Resolution (IVK). The foundation is also supposed to connect to the insights garnered in the joint research project “Out-of-Court and In-Court Conflict Resolution," which is being undertaken as part of Hesses's "LOEWE" research initiative. Prof. Dr. Wendt is a member of the Directorate of the Institute.

  • Presentation: On Thursday, November 26, 2015, the Insurance Forum of the Deutsche Versicherungsakademie (DVA) organized the conference on "News for legal protection insurance."  Prof. Dr. Wendt presented a lecture on the topic "Legal Protection Insurance and Alternative Dispute Resolution."

  • Presentation: On October 22, 2015, the Research Center for the Insurance Industry of the University Münster, together with the Federal Association of Insurance Brokers and the Friedrich Graf von Westphalen law firm, organized a symposium on insurance sales law. Prof. Dr. Wendt was invited to lecture on the effects of the European regulations of the IDD/IMD II on the German market. 

  • International Week 2015: For the "Contract Design" course in the summer semester 2015, we were able to get Dr. Kreisz of the Budapest Business School to hold a guest lecture on the topic “Contracting, esp. the Convention on Contracts for International Sale of Goods” (Part 1) as part of the International Week 2015.

  • Guest lecture: For the "Principles of Law" course in the summer semester 2015, we were able to get Judge Dr. Saam for a guest lecture on April 27, 2015. Dr. Saam is a judge at the District Court Frankfurt and Chairman of the Association of Judges in Hesse. Dr. Saam discussed case law and alternative dispute resolution.

  • Fire-place evening:  During a fire-place evening organized by the Student Association Business and Law on April 23, 2015 starting at 7:30 pm, Prof. Dr. Schimmel and Prof. Dr. Wendt presented their project "The Law and Humor."

  • Presentation: At the conference of the Federal Ministry for Environment, Environmental Protection, Construction, and Reactor Safety (BMUB) "How to make climate protection investments more attractive? Legal obstacles and new opportunities,” which was held on March 18, 2015 in Berlin, Prof. Dr. Wendt gave a presentation titled "The Insurance Industry as Investor - New Framework Conditions for Climate Protection Investments."

  • Hans-Messer Prize: With her Bachelor thesis "The Freedom of Information Act creating tension in-between the interests of capital market regulation and the market participants - Is the right for information disclosure from BaFin too far-reaching?" Ms. Fladung won the Hans-Messer Prize 2014. The thesis, with Prof. Dr. Anders and Prof. Dr. Wendt as advisors, examines a very practice-relevant topic and shows new solutions, which are also interesting from a legislative perspective. The paper appeared in the series "Academic Business and Law Contributions."

  • Presentation: At the Annual Conference of the Deutscher Verein für Versicherungswissenschaft e.V. held on March 20, 2014 in Stuttgart, Prof. Dr. Wendt presented a lecture with the title "Basic Information Sheets for Investment Products – the PRIPs Initiative."

  • Final report: The Final Report of the Commission Expert Group on European Insurance Contract Law has been published. Prof. Dr. Wendt was a member of the expert group.

The research initiative Future Aging studies questions that arise in connection with the use of robotics and assistive systems. This also includes aspects of product compliance. This covers legal questions that arise in connection with innovative developments and their establishment on the market. Product compliance is also understood as a quality management process that is supposed to ensure compliance with the regulations/rules which are relevant for the development and the use of products. In particular, there is a consideration of the product safety law and producer and product liability. Connected to this are, among others, the observable road safety obligations in the life cycle of a product, i.e. from the development of an innovative idea to monitoring the use of a product available on the market.

The continuous increase of commercial transportation has an effect on inner-city traffic situations and the increasing emission levels. We are studying what legal framework conditions in connection with today's and future challenges for freight traffic in cities must be adhered to. We are also studying what insurance solutions are necessary in this context.
