Methods Lab

The Methods Lab of the Competence Center for Social Intervertion Research supports researchers at all levels (students, staff, and faculty) in planning and conducting research activities in the field of social intervention research.

Support is particularly offered in the following areas:

  • Development of research designs
  • Conceptualization of empirical work
  • Advice and networking on data collection and the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Providing the Methods Lab for work meetings related to research funding applications, methods workshops, and research projects.

In addition, discussions and advancements in methods are supported through regular lectures, training sessions, workshops, and research colloquia in the context of social intervention research.

The Methods Lab also hosts ongoing research workshops for:

  • Doctoral students working with qualitative methods (Dr. Christian Hanser)
  • Students completing qualitative-empirical theses (Prof. Dr. Michaela Köttig)

Additionally, Sarah Lemghili offers regular open usage hours (details below). The Methods Lab also provides a framework for institutionalized collegial exchanges among its members.

Technical Equipment

  • Video conferencing capabilities for hybrid events
  • Four PCs with internet access (CIT account required) and the following software:
    • LibreOffice Still, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • MAXQDA, easytranscript, PDF24
    • IBM SPSS Statistics, StataIC 15
    • Zoom, Citavi 6, and CDBurnerXP
  • Four whiteboards
  • Flipchart
  • Room capacity/seating for approximately 20 people
