Electronic Journals Library (EZB) terms

Access to the library’s e-journals relies upon IP address authentication. The publisher checks to see if the requesting computer is within the list of IP addresses provided by the Frankfurt UAS. Therefore, when you are on campus you do not need any user account or password to use e-journals.

The terms of use of the respective publishers have to be observed.

In general:

  • Access to the full texts is only permitted to registered library users.
  • The user is allowed to print or save full text versions for personal use or research purposes only.
  • Systematic download of articles and search results, especially by robots, is prohibited.
  • It is not allowed to transfer, sell, rent or lend downloaded articles to another user under any condition whatsoever.

Please note: If you are using a proxy server it has to be turned off. Usually, it is not allowed to use a proxy server when accessing e-journals by IP authentication without a password. Furthermore, make sure that your browser's preferences are set to accept cookies.

On-campus access

You can download articles to your USB drive. As a student at the Frankfurt UAS you can also print articles at the print station in the computer lab. You need to log in with you IT user account and use your study chip to pay for printouts.

Off-campus access

For members of the Frankfurt UAS off-campus access is usually possible by using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Due to license restrictions some publishers do not allow off-campus access at all.

VPN requires an authentication with your IT user login and password provided by the IT department. For more information on setting up VPN read our VPN guide.

To read PDF-files, you will need Acrobat Reader which can obtain here for free.

Beck-Online

The database Beck online can only be used on campus. Beck online does not allow remote access via VPN.

EBSCO Business Source Elite

Many full-text journals in this database have embargo periods imposed by the publisher. It means the full text is not available for the current year/a specified time period but the full text of articles from older issues are available. Check the list of all e-journals in this database to see whether there is an embargo on a given journal.

Der Literarische Expressionismus Online

Nationwide access is made possible by funding of the Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). All journals in this database can be accessed via the Frankfurt UAS. If you have any problems accessing these journals please contact zeitschriften(at)bibl.fra-uas.remove-this.de.
