Continuing Fairtrade University – we celebrate with a fair breakfast

Day 3 of the Sustainability Action Week kicked off with a fair breakfast. We have been a Fairtrade University since 2022, making us the first university in Hesse to be awarded this title. We wanted to celebrate the success of our title renewal in 2024 with the fair breakfast. This renewed award confirms the university's ongoing efforts to promote sustainable consumption and fair trade products. Karla Méndez, former trainee at GEPA, green coffee importer and daughter of a coffee farmer from Nicaragua, gave us a vivid insight into fair coffee cultivation in Nicaragua. There was also a lot of other valuable information on the topic from our cooperation partner Pastor Dr Gunter Volz (Evangelical Church in Frankfurt and Offenbach) and Astrid Waymann, Fairtrade Offenbach – and the educational film FAIRkickt to coincide with the European Football Championship and the topic of sustainability in sport. At the Fairtrade wheel of fortune, visitors could also test their knowledge of sustainable consumption and sustainable products.
