A historic building and film set
Opened in 1916 as the Royal School of Mechanical Engineering, Building 8, together with Building 9, marks the beginning of the history of Frankfurt UAS.
After massive damage during the Second World War, students were forced to rebuild it before it took on its current form in the 1950s.
Building 8 houses the Student Council 2, some lecture rooms and many laboratories of Faculty 2: Computer Science and Engineering, especially in the fields of robotics, electrical engineering and mechatronics.
Building 8 is also home to the Protestant and Catholic university parishes.
You may also encounter this building on television, as scenes for the Hessischer Rundfunk's "Tatort" and the film "Iron Sky" were filmed here. In 2021, the façade was redesigned by a Frankfurt artist as part of a "façade art" fundraising campaign.
