Graduation Assistance for International Students
Each semester, the International Office grants a limited number of graduation assistance. The graduation grants are funded according to the guidelines of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
The Graduation Assistance offers international students financial support during the final phase of their bachelor’s or master's studies. Applicants must have acquired the university entrance qualification certificate abroad.
The financial support is granted for the semester in which the thesis is written. Students must apply one semester in advance. For example, if you want to apply for a grant in the winter semester, you must do so in the previous summer semester. If you want to apply for a summer semester, you have to do so in the previous winter semester.
Who is entitled: Support is given to international students who are in the last or second to last semester who register for the thesis in the next semester.
Application documents:
- A current certificate of enrollment
- Transcript of academic records
- Statement about all exams still to be completed
- If already available: admission for your final thesis (“Anmeldung zur Bachelorarbeit/Masterthesis”)
- An up-to-date letter of recommendation from a university professor/lecturer
- CV (Please list your educational history)
- Copy of your current residence permit
- Copies of bank account statements of the last six months (in case of married persons also documents of the spouse)
- Proof of financial difficulties, e.g. evidence of rental payment, loans, salary payment, funding, debt etc.
- Description of your financial situation, specifically how you have financed your studies up to now and what your monthly income is. If you live with your spouse, please indicate your spouse’s income.
