Unlike other countries German universities do usually not give grants. The most important grant donor for international students is the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) (German Academic Exchange Service). However, students usually apply for a scholarship in their home country. You can find different scholarship options on our scholarship website and in the DAAD scholarship database.

Each semester, the International Office grants a limited number of graduation assistance. The graduation grants are funded according to the guidelines of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

In addition, once a year the International Office grants the DAAD prize to an outstanding international student who has distinguished himself or herself through special academic achievements and remarkable social or intercultural commitment.

Studierendenwerk: The emergency fund is used to support students in need (short-term only). The economic emergency must have not been caused by the student’s gross negligence against himself or herself. More information on funding opportunities can be found at the Advising Center: Financial Emergencies.

Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and ESG: For foreign students who get into financial problems unintentionally, the student communities maintain emergency funds. Anyone who has acute problems covering the next rent or semester contribution can contact the Catholic University Community (KHG) or the Protestant Student Community (ESG). However, due to limited resources, they can only offer bridging help in real emergencies. Long-term support is usually not possible. Support is provided regardless of religious affiliation. The ESG mainly supports students from developing and emerging countries. Please contact Gürkan Asci.
