U!REKA European University

Urban Research and Education Knowledge Alliance

U!REKA European University is a transnational alliance of six universities of applied sciences and 24 partners who want to work together to shape the transition to climate-neutral societies. The core of the alliance is our university together with five European universities. We have been implementing joint projects in research, studies and teaching since 2016.

We cooperate closely with major cities and local initiatives as part of the EU Mission “Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities”. The goal of this mission is to achieve climate neutrality in the participating cities by 2030 and in all other European cities by 2050. The two U!REKA partner cities Amsterdam and Helsinki are EU mission cities. Read here what U!REKA actually means for Frankfurt UAS.

Our Goals

Become a part of U!REKA

Research, teach, study and work across Europe

We cordially invite you to find out about your options for becoming active at U!REKA European University. No matter whether you study, work, teach or are a partner with us: here you will find the right offers.

Our Path to U!REKA

In 2016, we agreed with our partners to pool our education, research and innovation activities. In this way we wanted to find answers to urban challenges and enable our students and employees to collaborate internationally. As a result, U!REKA was launched at the European Union Summit in 2017.

In 2023, U!REKA successfully applied to the EU Commission to become a fully-fledged European University Alliance. Since then, the collaboration has been expanded and deepened under the title U!REKA SHIFT. This makes us one of a total of 64 European University alliances.
