High-Integrity systems are complex, software controlled systems. They protect humans, the environment, organizations and society. They can be divided into two fields of applications:
- Safety Critical Systems (SCS) have a direct influence on the life and health of humans and the environment. They are used in all industrial areas, e.g. aerospace, automotive, railway and marine systems, power generation, medical technology, SCADA and others.
- Mission Critical Systems (MCS) possess a high criticality with respect to the functioning of an organization, e.g. ERP, CRM, and others.
A Master‘s degree in High Integrity Systems gives access to a wide range of professional opportunities in different application areas of Computer Science. The development of software and IT-services for High Integrity Systems is vitally important for all industries, and also in administrative applications, banking and finance systems.
The Master's degree in High Integrity Systems opens the door to a wide range of fields of use in safety critical areas in
- automotive and machine building industries,
- chemical and pharmaceutical industries,
- aeronautics and space systems,
- bio-medicine and medical technology.

Admission requirements
Application is possible till March 15 (summer semester) or September 15 (winter semester). Apply at the Student Services Center.
International applicants must observe the application deadlines of April 15 (winter semester) or October 15 (summer semester). Apply at uni-assist.
Admission requirements are a previous computer science degree with at least 180 ECTS or a comparable degree with at least 70% Computer Science; minimum grade of the degree is 1.8.
Applicants with a grade between 1.9 and 2.5 may be admitted if they can provide evidence of special qualifications through relevant professional experience, through particularly interesting IT projects after their first degree or through outstanding publications as lead author. The special qualifications need to be related to the HIS study program.
English language skills of at least level B2 must be demonstrated.
Part-time studies
Students, whose course of study has deviated from the regular course of full-time studies – for whatever reason – can seek personal counseling from the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.
Goal of the counseling is, while considering personal conditions of an individual course of study, to graduate in an appropriate period of time. In order to reach this goal, we will develop a course plan together with you.
