The study program
Legally sound contracts - from planning to implementation - are essential for business and human resources in both national and international contexts and require trained personalities. With the help of this degree program, you will mature into such a personality and become familiar with legal issues on an international level, master the art of initiating contracts as well as formulating services and requests in a way that is ready for signature and in line with the interests of the parties - and in all of this, you will not lose sight of the economic incentives of contracts. This master's degree fills a gap in your business law education and combines advanced theoretical legal training with practical skills in the areas of contract negotiation, contract drafting and contract management. Based on the knowledge you have already acquired in other degree programs and in your professional life, you will be taught in-depth practice-relevant knowledge with a theoretical foundation at a high academic level, including useful tips on strategy and tactics. The focus is therefore on the solution-oriented and interdisciplinary preparation of case examples and case studies from the respective currently lived corporate practice - especially on the future topic of "digitalization".
Career prospects
The Master's degree program is aimed at all those interested from Germany and abroad who already have a professional university degree in a business law, law or comparable degree program and wish to acquire a further professional degree in the field of business law. Graduates can work in many areas of business and administration and are qualified for higher service, as they have become familiar with different types of contracts and areas of law and can quickly and confidently familiarize themselves with areas that are foreign to them due to the tools and methods they have acquired.
Study structure
The first two semesters of the program cover (international) negotiation and the theoretical foundations of contract drafting and management, as well as practical instruction in contract preparation methods and tools (due diligence, rating) and intangible property law contracts and e-commerce. These are complemented by subject-specific contract drafting modules (management and personnel - exchange and project contracts - corporate and group law contracts).
In the third semester, the knowledge of contract law is further optimized in the international area and rounded off by illuminating the tax aspects of contract drafting as well as the economic analysis of the law. The remaining time is available for the preparation of the Master's thesis.
The focus of the program is on International Contracts I to III, which is taught in English throughout. The theoretical treatment of case constellations typical of corporate practice is supplemented in many modules by a case study in which students independently apply and deepen the knowledge they have acquired to a complex case. These compulsory modules are supplemented by two elective modules that focus on special areas of contract design and contract management. Students can choose between "Digitization and Law" and "Methods and Instruments of Extrajudicial Conflict Resolution".
The events are held exclusively on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
