Late Arrival
Newly enrolled students who do not receive an appointment at the German embassy in their home country in time to arrive before the start of lectures before a given semester have various possibilities to proceed under these difficult circumstances.
A deferment of admission is not possible.
Admission are valid for the given semester only and cannot be deferred to a later semester.
Depending on your degree course, taking up lectures and courses after the regular start of lectures may be possible. At the bottom of this page you will find concrete information and contact info sorted by degree course. Should your degree course not be listed below, please send an email to international.admission(at)fra-uas.de and let us know.
Option 1: Leave of absence
If you wish to stay enrolled and secure your study place, you can file for leave of absence in your FranCa portal for Students. This way you stay enrolled, the semester you are on leave will not be counted towards your subject-related semesters.
As reason for your leave of absence please choose "Other reasons" and briefly explain your situation in the input field below. After your request for leave of absence has been granted you can apply for a refund of the semester ticket. Please direct the application for a refund towards the general student committee AStA, as they are in charge of the semester ticket.
Please note: As long as you are on leave of absence, you may not take any exams. Payment of the complete semester fee is required for re-enrollment for the following semester. A leave of absence for the following semester needs to be requested individually after re-enrollment.
Option 2: Withdrawal from enrollment
If you don't wish to stay enrolled, you can withdraw from enrollment.
As long as you have not been enrolled yet, you can withdraw your application for enrollment in your FranCa application portal. If you have already transferred the semester fee, it will be refunded in full.
Once your enrollment has been processed you can withdraw from enrollment until the start of lectures by filing for withdrawal in your FranCa portal for Students. In this case the semester fee will be partly refunded; the administrative fee of 50 € is non-refundable. If at the time of withdrawal your Study Chip (student ID card) has been produced, the Study Chip fee of 10 € cannot be refunded either.
Please note that you will have to apply again via uni assist, if you wish to start your studies with us. The uni assist fee cannot be refunded.

Please contact the degree programs Study Coordinator individually to request whether a late arrival i. e. a later start of lectures is possible or if a leave of absence is preferable.
If you arrive in Frankfurt two weeks after the regular start of lectures or later, a proper participation in the degree program's courses is not possible and it is recommended for your to request a leave of absence for the relevant semester.
