Data protection statement according to Article 13 and 14 GDPR for the Taiwan trip / !SG module ChinAbilty

At the Taiwan trip of the !SG module "ChinAbility", employees of Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences will record videos and take pictures. Frankfurt UAS is committed to protecting your privacy and information security. The following provisions will inform you about the purpose of the processing, legal basis, recipients and storage periods, as well as about your rights and the controller for processing activities concerning your personal data. This is a translation, only the German version is legally binding.

3. Purposes of the processing

The legal basis for the processing is:

  • Pictures of the event: Art. 6 (1) lit. e): processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller. Frankfurt UAS informs the public, journalists and the ministry about this event (according to Hessian act on higher education (2021), Art. 14 para. 5+6). We will file selected pictures to an archive (Art. 89 GDPR).
  • In case of pictures portraying persons or small groups, we obtain the consent of the person(s) according to Art. 6 (1) lit. a) (“consent”).

    This event will be recorded.

    The event will be recorded and we will publish the recordings on the website(s) and/or on Social Media.

    • In case of recordings portraying persons or small groups, we obtain the consent of the person(s) according to Art. 6, para. 1, letter a GDPR (“consent”).
    • Recordings of the event: Art. 6 (1) lit. e): processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller. Frankfurt UAS informs the public, journalists and the ministry about this event (according to Hessian act on higher education (2021), Art. 14 para. 5).
    • We will file the recordings to an archive (Art. 89 GDPR).

    Video and photo production by third parties

    It is to be expected that third parties, including journalists, will take pictures or video for purposes of their own, also for publication on Social Media channels.

    We consider the processing of your personal information necessary for the pursuit of the legitimate interests of Frankfurt UAS or an external organization. You are entitled to the right of objection (Art. 21 GDPR). For details, please refer to section “right to object”.

    4. Disclosure to third parties

    Your personal information is shared with relevant staff at Frankfurt UAS as required by law or contract.

    Concerning pictures and video footage: For public relations, Frankfurt UAS will publish pictures and video footage on the website. We will fulfill mandatory documentation according to § 14 para. 5 of the Hessian Act on higher education (2021), and we will file selected pictures to an archive (Art. 89 GDPR).

    5. Transmission of your data to a third country or an international organization

    Data may be processed outside the EU.

    6. Data retention

    We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

    7. Data-Subject Rights

    In accordance with the GDPR, we hereby draw your attention to your rights. You have the following rights: Right of access by the data subject (Art. 15 GDPR), right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), right to restriction of pro-cessing (Art. 18 GDPR), right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and the right to object (Art. 21 GDPR).

    a. Right to object

    You have the right at any time to object to the processing of your data as per Art. 21 GDPR should you have reasons related to your particular situation. We will cease processing your personal data should you lodge an objection, unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate reasons for processing to overrule your interests, rights and freedom or unless processing serves a purpose of enforcing, pursuing or defending legal claims.

    b. Right to revocation of the declaration of consent under data protection law

    You have the right to revoke your declaration of consent under data protection law at any time. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

    8. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

    You have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory data privacy authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The supervisory authority responsible for us is:

    9. Provision of personal data

    The provision of personal data is neither a statutory, but you may not participate in the event if you are not providing the necessary data. The provision of additional data takes place on a voluntary basis, solely on the basis of your consent.
